A multidisciplinary research team led by the Illinois Natural History Survey (INHS) is studying White Nose Syndrome, a devastating disease of bats. Working closely with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Shawnee National Forest, and the US Fish & Wildlife Service, INHS scientists, along with specialists from the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences (NRES) and the University of Illinois Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory seek to better understand this disease and monitor Illinois bat hibernacula.
