Forest Service Eastern Region WNS Accomplishments

The Eastern Region of the U.S. Forest Service is home to 14 bat species, including the federally endangered Indiana bat, gray bat, and Virginia big-eared bat. White-nose Syndrome (WNS), a disease that is fatal to many bats, has now affected seven of these species and has spread to 15 states within the 20-state Eastern Region. This fact sheet highlights some of the accomplishments of the Eastern Region in the national WNS response.
